01 Who we are
A family converting plant in Greenville, for forty-some years.
Paper Cutters, Inc. is a privately held, generational converter of paper and paperboard. One plant, 150,000 square feet under roof, on the Highway 25 Bypass north of Greenville, South Carolina.
For most of our history we ran one shift and had no sales department. Work came in because the last job went out right. To grow, we bought machines rather than salespeople, and kept buying them until there was very little in paperboard we could not slit, sheet, cut or die cut under one roof.
That is still the shape of the company. Our customers include mills, packaging distributors and Fortune 500 manufacturers, and most of them have been customers for a long time.
02 What we believe
Three things we tell new people
One
The greatest ability is dependability.
It is the line on our letterhead and the only marketing we have ever needed. A promised date is a promise.
Two
Waste is the enemy, not the customer.
Board is bought by the ton and sold by the sheet or the pound. Every trim is planned so the roll gives up as little as the geometry allows. That yield is what lets us hold a price.
Three
The spec is sacred.
Grade, caliper, size, count, packaging. Once it is on file, the tenth order matches the first. If you want it changed, we change the spec, not the habit.
03 Right now
Still buying machines.
A narrow-web sheeter is on the floor in installation as this is written. The business systems that schedule them are being rebuilt too, so specs, releases and paperwork move faster between your desk and our machines.
The website, as promised, remains a calling card. The plant is the point.
